New novel: Moon Water
When family is lost and the road back home is unrecognizable, this story of kinship follows a French family’s survival post WWII. Delphine, a six-year-old French girl, lives with her beloved grandparents in Bordeaux. While they are together at a summer farmhouse, Delphine is unexpectedly taken away by her beautiful mother whom she has never met. In this coming-of-age novel, Delphine immigrates to America with her estranged mother, but it is not the dream her mother promised. Delphine’s desire to seek a familial bond will lead her on a global quest to find her biological father. But her efforts are thwarted by her mother’s desire to keep the past a secret. For reasons that emerge slowly about her mother’s time at an unwed mother’s home and the torments she suffered during the French Occupation, Delphine discovers the impact of generational trauma and how family fractures lead to our own healing.
